Join us Jan. 17 at 7pm for an #FCSP Toronto Fans special screening of Here to Stay @scallywagsbar
The integration of sport and human rights causes has never been more alive than with FC St. Pauli, a Bundesliga 2 football team in Hamburg, Germany with deeply rooted principles against racism, sexism, homophobia and fascism.
This devotion to social causes prompted it to create and sponsor FC Lampedusa, a football club in Hamburg composed entirely of refugees, many of whom came to Germany via Lampedusa, the Italian island which became a primary European entry point for migrants.
The Audience Network’s Religion of Sports featured FC Lampedusa in its second season in the episode entitled Here To Stay. Here to Stay sheds light on this inspiring club, the individuals who play for it, the volunteers who organize and coach the club, and the parent club FC St. Pauli and its deep connection to this awesome endeavor.
Join us as we share this remarkable story.
